The San Francisco Church and Monastery is a 16th century Roman Catholic complex in Quito, Ecuador. It fronts the large public square called the Plaza de San Francisco in the Old Town or Centro Historico. The church and historic center of Quito was declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1978 because it is one of the largest, least-altered and best preserved historic centers in the Americas. The structure is the largest architectural ensemble among the historical structures of colonial Latin America.
